A. Purpose and Scope

We are seeking an Accounting Associate who will be responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the Accounting Department personnel. This position will maintain accounting document files, including daily clerical work, accounts payable entry, processing foreign wire transactions and mandated state reporting as well as other duties assigned.


B. Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices by verifying proper approval per company policy, ensuring accurate G/L coding and obtaining appropriate supporting documentation prior to payment.
  • Perform weekly and adhoc vendor payments via wire, ACH, check, and credit card. Includes processing foreign wire transactions via online banking platform.
  • Vendor management including:
  • Set-up new vendors in the accounting system
  • Respond to vendor inquiries
  • Maintain vendor relationships• Assist with weekly payables selections and cash management
  • Create, post, and reconcile intercompany journal entries in accounting system
  • Assist with month-end closing as needed
  • Prepare year-end 1099s
  • Maintain accounting document files
  • Assist in monitoring company accounting policy compliance
  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions
  • Provide support for various special projects, as required


C. Organizational Relationships

  • This position reports to the Staff Accountant



A. Education and Training

  • High School graduate; Associate Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience – including working knowledge of financial statements


B. Technical/Other Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail with significant emphasis on accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal skills
  • Flexibility to switch priorities
  • Team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, particularly Excel
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, QAD experience desired
  • Prior experience with ERP system implementation a plus
